Who Is East 17?
One of the Most Iconic British Boy BandsEast 17 are one of the most iconic British boy bands of the 1990s. Formed in 1991 in Walthamstow, East London — the postal district that gave them their name — the group fused pop with hip-hop, R&B and dance influences to create a sound that defined a generation.
The original line-up was Tony Mortimer (songwriter and founder), Brian Harvey (lead vocals), John Hendy and Terry Coldwell. From their 1992 debut Walthamstow, the band scored a run of top-ten singles in the UK and across Europe, building a passionate global fanbase.
Their festive ballad Stay Another Day hit #1 in the UK in December 1994 and remains one of the most-loved Christmas singles of all time. Other anthems — House of Love, Deep, Steam, It’s Alright — pushed total worldwide sales past 18 million records.
Today the band continues to tour as a trio, headlined by founding member Terry Coldwell alongside Robbie Craig (joined 2014) and Joe Livermore. Ready to party like it’s the 90s? So are they.

East 17
Iconic British Boy Band from WalthamstowEast 17 burst onto the British pop scene in 1992 with their debut album Walthamstow, named after the East London neighbourhood that also gave the group its postcode-inspired name. Combining streetwise hip-hop fashion with sing-along pop hooks, the group quickly became a defining act of the 90s boy-band era.
Driven by Tony Mortimer’s songwriting and Brian Harvey’s vocals, the band notched 18 Top-20 hits in the UK alone, including #1 single Stay Another Day, as well as anthems House of Love, Deep, Steam, It’s Alright, Around the World and Hold My Body Tight.
Across albums Walthamstow (1992), Steam (1994), Up All Night (1995) and Resurrection (1998), East 17 sold over 18 million records worldwide and toured every major European market — from arenas in Germany and Italy to festivals across Eastern Europe.
Today, the line-up is Terry Coldwell (founding member, with the group since 1991), Robbie Craig (since 2014) and Joe Livermore. The trio still delivers the full 90s setlist on stages around the world — exactly what the fans turn up for.
